Online Meeting Software Review: Yugma Customers Finding New Ways to Innovate

  • Dec 15, 2007

Yugma recently reached out to it's community and users to share their stories and profiles. They wanted to hear more about how people were using Yugma. How it was benefiting their lives. What they wanted Yugma to focus on going forward. In response, they received numerous insightful stories and customer profiles. Here's one:

FINDING NEW WAYS TO INNOVATE

"We've found Yugma fits the way we want to work," said Erickson.

Zeus Jones

Collaboration is essential to the way marketing innovation firm Zeus Jones creates unique solutions for their clients, so much so that all the employees sit around one giant table. That way ideas and discussions can flow spontaneously and organically.

The Partners at Zeus Jones never thought they would use a collaboration service to enhance the way they were already working. They had used tools like Web Ex at the advertising firm they all worked at together before starting their new company, and found them unreliable and hard to use. However, Zeus Jones found Yugma not only easy-to-use, but also found it helped them in unexpected ways.

"Meetings are the bane of real productivity," said Adrian Ho, Partner at Zeus Jones. "No one gets an actual work done in meetings. Where the real work happens is in smaller, spontaneous interactions."

"When inspiration hits, you want to be able to share ideas on the spot," said Christian Erickson, Partner at Zeus Jones. "We find ourselves leaving Yugma open all day long. That way we can show each other what we're doing without having to constantly get up to see each other's monitors."

Yugma also helps Zeus Jones work more efficiently with their network of freelance developers and designers who often work offsite or in other cities. They use Yugma to brief freelancers on projects, answer in depth questions on the fly, and review in-progress work.

"We've found Yugma fits the way we want to work," said Erickson. "That combined with how easy it is to use, and that it works great on Macs made it a no-brainer for us."

YUGMA'S FREE WEB CONFERENCING SERVICE INTEGRATES WITH SKYPE

  • Sep 13, 2007

YUGMA COLLABORATION TOOL NOW AVAILABLE ON
SKYPE EXTRAS AND OFFERS INTEGRATION WITH
SKYPE
CALLING FEATURES

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 – Yugma ™ today announced the launch of their Yugma Skype Edition. The Yugma Skype Edition builds upon Skype's offering by adding real time collaboration and desktop sharing functionality. Yugma has integrated the new functionality in a way that makes it extremely easy for existing Skype users. Once Yugma Skype Edition in installed, simply invite a friend or colleague from your existing Skype contact list, Yugma opens automatically, and sharing begins.

"We wanted to build upon Skype's legendary ease of use," said Karel Lukas, COO of Yugma. "Skype makes it easy for people to stay in constant contact and to communicate with one another spontaneously. We believe collaboration needs to move in the same direction, which is why it was natural for Yugma and Skype to come together.”

“It’s as simple as clicking ‘Start Sharing’ in the Yugma window and your friend can see your entire desktop. Press another button in the window and you can swap the sharing power to them… so users of Windows and Mac can share desktops with each other!” wrote Caitlin of Skype in last week’s Skype Developer Program Newsletter.

"Yugma Skype opens-up the door to contextual, just-in-time collaboration, making it possible for any existing Skype user to start screen-sharing, live annotating or giving remote control of the screen to anyone in a few mouse clicks. What's more impressive is that Yugma for Skype supports up to ten concurrent users and is absolutely free, " said Robin Good, Chief Editor of Master New Media.

Yugma is taking a different approach to collaboration. While the rest of the space is meeting-centric and focused on structured collaboration, Yugma is beginning to change course and take their service in a new direction, taking Yugma beyond the limits of meeting-centric structured collaboration.

Yugma Skype Edition is available for download for Skype users in the Skype Extras section at http://extras.skype.com, or directly from the Yugma website, at www.yugma.com/yugmaskype .

Yugma will hold a live news conference later today to provide a demonstration of the Yugma Skype Edition and to take questions.

Yugma Web Collaboration Launches Developer Zone

  • Sep 5, 2007

Yugma just recently announced their Developer Zone. You can find it at http://www.yugma.com/developers. Over the last six months, they received so many requests about how best to embed Yugma into applications, websites, blogs, emails and application mashups. The good news is that its actually really easy to embed Yugma anywhere you want. You can use the new Yugma Developer Zone to create a lot of really cool and useful things like:

  • add instant real-time collaboration to any application, website, etc. for free
  • embed recorded visual demo's, recorded using Yugma's recording/broadcast feature
  • embed "yugma me now" type buttons and widgets that are preprogrammed with specific session ids
  • create branded and personalized Yugma widgets
  • create co-branded affiliate registration pages -- to make extra money

This looks like an easy way for developers to enhance their apps. Imagine real-time collaboration on any app, any platform (windows, mac, linux). That's pretty cool!

They just recently released a new premium service called Premium 500. Yugma Web Conferencing and Collaboration Upgrades Shared File Space Feature

  • Aug 5, 2007

One of Yugma 's best kept secrets is the Shared File Space feature. It's a simple yet powerful cross platform utility that lets you easily share files with your team or clients. Sure, you can email files around. But how often have you run into email systems that refuse to accept large files like graphic heavy presentations and videos. The Shared File Space feature gets around this issue. Once you use it for a short while, you realize that it is just like having a shared drive, on the web, at no extra charge. The nice thing about it is that you get 100MB of storage even with the Premium 10 account. That's on top of the 200MB of storage space you get for storing recorded sessions online at Yugma.

Image

Well, we're always trying to make things easier and more useful. So we just recently revamped this feature with a more intuitive look/feel and function. To access the feature, just click the Shared File Space button on the Yugma control panel. The Shared File Space feature allows you to set up different groups with different individuals in each group. For example, you might have different projects. Or you might want to have an internal documents space for your team, and a different document space for your clients to access. To copy files back and forth from the Shared Files Space just select the file(s) and then click the right or left arrow buttons. Premium users can access their Shared Files Spaces at any time. Yugma Free users can only access Shared Files Spaces when they are in a session a Premium user. You can manage the creation of groups and group members from the Action option at the top of the Yugma Control Panel. You can even check the history of who modified the files, and when they were modified -- alla version control. Give it a try. Let us know what you think.

*** Here is a demo of the enhanced Shared File Space feature. By the way, the demo was created by using Yugma's simple Recording Feature . It allows you to record what you are doing, upload it to the Yugma website, and then broadcast it to others . Check it out.

Yugma Web Conferencing and Collaboration Launches Enhanced Recording And Broadcast Feature

  • Jul 29, 2007

A couple of weeks ago, Yugma released its enhanced recording and broadcast feature. In short, the new premium feature lets you

  • Record what ever you are doing on your computer
  • Save your recordings on your computer
  • Upload your recordings to Yugma so you can broadcast them to the world

The cool thing is that you can record anything you do on your computer, using any application! On Windows, Mac, and Linux! Yes, you very own easy desktop recorder! Think user created content...

Here is a sample recording. It highlights how you can use the new Shared File Space feature in Yugma.

Think of the possibilities: Elearning, software demo's and how-to's, recorded whiteboard or annotation sessions, self paced presentations. And if that's not enough, this is just the beginning of a really cool set of new features we are working on and beta testing this summer and fall before releasing.  We're even working on Yugma's beauty as well as its brains.  We'll spiff up the look and controls to make it look cooler (e.g., distinctive new control panel, youtube -like media player controls, blinking recording button, export utilities, etc.).

Web Conferencing Reviews: Yugma Free Web Conferencing and Collaboration

  • Jul 20, 2007

I’m in love! The opportunities to grow your business are mind-boggling.

The other day, one client who's down in Kennebunk, Maine, saved 90 minutes of driving time, plus gas and the cost of parking in the Old Port. His investment: 2 minutes in downloading the software.  For the small business owner or entrepreneur, you have to give Yugma a look in this "The World is Flat" world we live in. Whether you use their teleconferencing service, call a client direct, or set up a Skype conference to lay on top of a Yugma session, the opportunities to grow your business are mind-boggling.

              - Rich Brooks, Flyte - http://tinyurl.com/2ffk4z

This extremely useful app takes desktop sharing and conferencing to the next level.

I actually found this to be one of, if not the most useful apps I've 'played' with to date. I can open it up, tell a friend, or a co-worker to hop on, and we can have a conference. The thing that I really like about this app is that it is all live, fast, and quick. Instead of having to upload or email a file to the other people, I can just pull it up on my own desktop and show it to them.

-Jake Dahn, Center Networks - http://tinyurl.com/28jmqt

Champagne anyone?

Have you ever hastily slapped together a PowerPoint demonstration and felt like you needed some good solid feedback on your spur-of-the-moment masterpiece before you head off to show to a client or whomever might be the informee to your slideshow? Now, what if you were remote, and didn’t have a confidant nearby to say yea or nay?  Well, it just so happens that a few enterprising folks behind the conferencing utility known as Yugma thought of very similar potential dilemmas, apparently, because what they’re offering is a solution that rids you and your team or circle of worry. For free. Champagne anyone?

            -Paul Glazowski, Profy - http://tinyurl.com/3d7jck

Yugma is one big killer web app—Give it a try!

            -TechBuzz - http://tinyurl.com/2epuw3

Live Collaboration Nirvana = Skype + Yugma

Yugma is our latest find, and it is really cool. We are using the free version which is a java-based program that enables screencasting. I can initiate a webconference through Yugma, and our developers can all see my screen as I browse. It also includes markup tools so I can highlight the page so show exactly what I am talking about. Control of the screencast can be passed to any member on the conference.

-Chris Schultz, Voodoo Ventures - http://tinyurl.com/26nmmv

 Yugma is brilliantly clear.

Yugma's strapline says it all: free web conferencing, forever, anytime, anywhere, Windows and Mac. It's a beautiful web-based tool for video conferencing, the kind of thing that doesn't need an install from your school IT Technician. It took about a minute to open up, register and get going. Brilliantly clear, with the option to share your desktop (so you can draw, write, illustrate) and a nice set of annotation tools to 'point' out what you're talking about.

            -Ewan McIntosh, Edublogs - http://tinyurl.com/yslvn2

Weird name, but Yugma ROCKS for web conferencing!

Easy to use, free, and the product performance is great.  Uninstall Yugma?
Yu gotta be kidding.

            -The Business Web - http://tinyurl.com/2afmur

I was very, very impressed with Yugma.

I don’t showcase a lot of web applications, but this one is different. Web conferencing is necessary for a lot of businesses. From sales, to web design, and more - any job where you work with a team over a long distance needs web conferencing these days.  Mac support in this area is a bit limited, and most services cost a monthly fee, or per session fee…but Yugma is different.  All in all, I was very, very impressed with Yugma. If you need to do any web conferencing, either with your clients, or with your co-workers, this is a great free web based solution.

             -Michael, Apple Gazette - http://tinyurl.com/ysx2hq

Yugma is the trifecta of easy and effective online collaboration.

I love Yugma. It is extremely painless to setup, use, and it is free to do it. Yugma is a web-conferencing tool that has excellent annotation tools, easy controls, and a simple sign-up process. It took me little more than ten minutes from sign-up to knowing how to use Yugma's tools and launching my first web conference without the trouble that WebEx usually gives me. This is the perfect tool for anyone who is teaching a class, discussing a group project, or even collaborating on a business deal. I can't tell you the many times in the last few months that I wished I had a service like this to illustrate a point visually instead of over the phone.

-Ryan Carter, Download Squad - http://tinyurl.com/24oy74

I can’t stop gushing about Yugma.

I can’t stop gushing about Yugma. It’s finally broken the barrier for inexpensive, interactive screen sharing between Macs and PCs. It’s fast,  it works, it’s cheap and seems to have all the core features of the big guys like Webex and GoToMeeting. It amazes me that it took so long for someone to develop a product like this. Nobody has made it this easy to share between platforms.

            -HalfDawn - http://tinyurl.com/yux29w

Essential for a total collaborative working environment.

With only a handful of other web conferencing applications currently available, Yugma's free service offers just about the same functionality as with the other paid subscription based web conferencing products. If you're a newcomer to the world of web conferencing, or if you're looking an alternative to your existing application, Yugma is hard to pass on.

            -Pear Logic - http://tinyurl.com/2hpow6

By far the best we’ve ever used.

We have been utilizing virtual meeting software for years to meet online with our designers and programmers in Argentina, France and India. Web based programs like GotoMeeting served our needs well for PC based meetings, but once we transfered some of our staff over to Apples we were no longer able to utilize 90% of the virtual meeting services available. Enter Yugma, a really fast and affordable virtual meeting service that is by far the best we’ve ever used, plus it’s cross platform compatible.

-Azin Mehrnoosh, HiDef Web Solutions - http://tinyurl.com/2ff5do

The price and features are fantastic. You can’t beat Free!

Yugma is a new collaboration tool that lets users share a common online visual workspace and their desktops. It is impressive. Yugma offers free web conferencing sessions for up to 10 attendees (free version) to collaborate and share ideas online.  It is a cinch to start a session and we use it often for sales and training support at Evolving Solutions and YourTeam Online.

-Chris Nadeau, The Perfect Balance - http://tinyurl.com/2gmb5q

Wow!

Free web conferencing tool.  There are premium subscriptions available, but this puppy allows you to share your screen, audio conference, include a whiteboard, have chat, and all without ads.  It also lets you create a widget that you can add to a website to let users web conference with you in one-click.  Wow!  Can we say "another virtual reference competitor" y'all?

           -Librarian in Black - http://tinyurl.com/2d8775

The easiest conferencing setup on the internet.

If anyone is looking for a cross-platform web conferencing tool this is your answer. This tool will work with PCs and Macs as well as with any web browser. It’s JAVA based and is the easiest conferencing setup I have run across on the internet. I’ve looked at them all from Adobe Connect to WebEx to Microsoft LiveMeeting and none of those products have the cross-platform ease of use as Yugma. And the kicker is that it’s FREE to use!!
