On a scale of evaluated features ranging from 1 to 10, Yugma 3.0 Professional achieved a score of 9.0, barely behind the 9.1 received by WebEx MeetMeNow 2.1 and the 9.5 awarded to Citrix GoToMeeting 4.0, according to www.webconferencing-test.com reviews of online- collaboration products.
With gas prices at an all time high, it's no surprise that more people are waking up to the benefits of online meetings and web conferencing. Just look at year of year growth of traffic for top players Webex and GoToMeeting. Now... see below...
Yugma quietly released it's new Enterprise Service feature a few months ago. They released the new web conferencing feature but never actually announced it in a press release, newsletter, or blog post. But they did recently publically release information on their website, and start talking about it on their daily live online demonstrations.
The new feature allows a user (an "administrator" type) to easily and quickly create free Yugma web conferencing accounts for an entire organization in a matter of minutes. This can can done by simply importing an entire organizations user list (csv format) using the new import feature. I'm not aware of any specific system limits to the import feature... so theoretically, you could import/create as many accounts as you would like to create.
While Yugma has not promoted this feature actively, they did recently publish a tutorial for adminsitrators. The tutorial is buried in Yugma's new tutorial page and can be found at http://www.yugma.com/support/tutorials/enterprise.html. The key advantage behind this new feature is that it lets a user to quickly set up free Yugma accounts for their entire team, company, group, etc.. The free accounts are instantly activated with all of the premium features enabled for the first couple of weeks, and then then the accounts automatically revert to the basic online meeting service level for free, forever. The basic version allows users to instantly launch real-time desktop sharing sessions for virtual project team meetings, online presentations, sales training, customer training, contract reviews, budget planning... you name it. According to the tutorial, to create a group of accounts, a user must first create a "group admin account" at http://yugma.com/Enterprise/. After you create the admin account, you then create or import multiple user accounts.
By the way, after the accounts revert to basic accounts, you (the "admin") can upgrade any or all of the accounts to the premium service level by simply contacting Yugma's sales team and purchasing a group subscription.
BTW: One of my personal favorite "free features" is the customizable widget that lets you create a co-brand Yugma button for your website, blog, intranet portal, or email signature. Click here for an example. You can create your own customizable widget at https://www.yugma.com/share/widgets/share_tools.php ![]()
Jeff Brenman put this presentation together for Yugma. Jeff has a keen sense for clear simple expression. He did a great job capturing the shift that is happening in the web conferencing space, and the unique advantages that Yugma provides to users. Fact is that people need tools that are super easy to use, can be used on the fly... in an impromptu fashion. Flip though his deck at Slideshare (slideshare.net)...

Here are three great examples of how small and mid sized businesses are using Yugma to grow their customer base, provide better customer service, and significantly reduce travel expenses (e.g., do more, travel less).
"When inspiration hits, you want to be able to share ideas on the spot," said Christian Erickson, Partner at Zeus Jones. "We find ourselves leaving Yugma open all day long. That way we can show each other what we're doing without having to constantly get up to see each other's monitors." Read more...

YUGMA COLLABORATION TOOL NOW AVAILABLE ON
SKYPE EXTRAS AND OFFERS INTEGRATION WITH
SKYPE CALLING FEATURES
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 – Yugma ™ today announced the launch of their Yugma Skype Edition. The Yugma Skype Edition builds upon Skype's offering by adding real time collaboration and desktop sharing functionality. Yugma has integrated the new functionality in a way that makes it extremely easy for existing Skype users. Once Yugma Skype Edition in installed, simply invite a friend or colleague from your existing Skype contact list, Yugma opens automatically, and sharing begins.
"We wanted to build upon Skype's legendary ease of use," said Karel Lukas, COO of Yugma. "Skype makes it easy for people to stay in constant contact and to communicate with one another spontaneously. We believe collaboration needs to move in the same direction, which is why it was natural for Yugma and Skype to come together.”
“It’s as simple as clicking ‘Start Sharing’ in the Yugma window and your friend can see your entire desktop. Press another button in the window and you can swap the sharing power to them… so users of Windows and Mac can share desktops with each other!” wrote Caitlin of Skype in last week’s Skype Developer Program Newsletter.
"Yugma Skype opens-up the door to contextual, just-in-time collaboration, making it possible for any existing Skype user to start screen-sharing, live annotating or giving remote control of the screen to anyone in a few mouse clicks. What's more impressive is that Yugma for Skype supports up to ten concurrent users and is absolutely free, " said Robin Good, Chief Editor of Master New Media.
Yugma is taking a different approach to collaboration. While the rest of the space is meeting-centric and focused on structured collaboration, Yugma is beginning to change course and take their service in a new direction, taking Yugma beyond the limits of meeting-centric structured collaboration.
Yugma Skype Edition is available for download for Skype users in the Skype Extras section at http://extras.skype.com, or directly from the Yugma website, at www.yugma.com/yugmaskype .
Yugma will hold a live news conference later today to provide a demonstration of the Yugma Skype Edition and to take questions.

Yugma is an easy web conferencing service that works on Windows, Mac, and Linux that is available free forever. The company makes it's money from users who upgrade to their premium services. They just recently released a new premium service called Premium 500. With Premium 500, users can easily host unlimited virtual meetings and webinar / seminar presentations with up to 500 attendees on each session. This new larger service is ideal for large associations, non-profit organizations, e-learning organizations, businesses, religious organizations, web conferencing software reviews, and online communities. The service can also be used in smaller group situations or to Yugma one to one to enable instant and spontaneous collaborations throughout the day, and to collaborate in any application.
The new service is very easy to use and works seamlessly across Windows (XP and Vista), Mac and Linux systems. One of Yugma 's best kept secrets is the Shared File Space feature. It's a simple yet powerful cross platform utility that lets you easily share files with your team or clients. Sure, you can email files around. But how often have you run into email systems that refuse to accept large files like graphic heavy presentations and videos. The Shared File Space feature gets around this issue. Once you use it for a short while, you realize that it is just like having a shared drive, on the web, at no extra charge. The nice thing about it is that you get 100MB of storage even with the Premium 10 account. That's on top of the 200MB of storage space you get for storing recorded sessions online at Yugma.
Well, we're always trying to make things easier and more useful. So we just recently revamped this feature with a more intuitive look/feel and function. To access the feature, just click the Shared File Space button on the Yugma control panel. The Shared File Space feature allows you to set up different groups with different individuals in each group. For example, you might have different projects. Or you might want to have an internal documents space for your team, and a different document space for your clients to access. To copy files back and forth from the Shared Files Space just select the file(s) and then click the right or left arrow buttons. Premium users can access their Shared Files Spaces at any time. Yugma Free users can only access Shared Files Spaces when they are in a session a Premium user. You can manage the creation of groups and group members from the Action option at the top of the Yugma Control Panel. You can even check the history of who modified the files, and when they were modified -- alla version control. Give it a try. Let us know what you think. *** Here is a demo of the enhanced Shared File Space feature. By the way, the demo was created by using Yugma's simple Recording Feature . It allows you to record what you are doing, upload it to the Yugma website, and then broadcast it to others . Check it out.
